Am I the only one that feels this way?
As you can see it has been a year since I blogged and a lot has happened. But this isn't going to be that kind of post, I do those way to often.
School, Job & Life
Now that I am done with school (yay me!) I am relishing the last few months of freedom before I return to the workforce. The question I hate the most is "what are you going to do with your degree?" If I knew, I'd be doing it already. I have seen lots of job postings for things that sound interesting or things that are easy but it hasn't felt like the right time, yet. I am fearful I don't even remember how to be a team player...I know dumb, right?! But seriously, the last job I had was cleaning houses and the one before that a manager of a dental office...not exactly in the same field. Except for the fact that I cleaned bathrooms and vacuumed while doing those two jobs. So I will continue to look at job postings, I will continue to figure out "what I want to be when I grow up" and I will let you know when I know. hahah.
(This post is gonna get ADD, just warning you.)
Weight loss, Running and all that Crap
I am still battling the bulge. The first weekend in November I vowed to myself that a year from then I would be much healthier place. I joined a boot camp class, gained a running partner (thank you Sarah) and have promised that I would use the equipment we purchased the year before in my journey to find my "happiness". It took me three months to wake up happy to work out or at least hit the gym in a semi-decent attitude. Then I discovered the real pain of running, SHIN SPLINTS. Oh my gosh, they are painful and almost turned me off from running completely but I really, really, really want to be a runner. I want to finish a 5K and 10K this summer and fall in the middle of the pack, although I have yet to commit to any race in particular...YET.
Migraines are the shit!
The running is being hampered by my pesky, freaking migraines that don't quit! I don't even know what to think about those things...besides I probably need maintenance drugs but I HATE them. I am learning about natural approaches (DoTerra essential oils) to help with my migraines but some things that work for most people, don't work for me - we shall see.
Library fines
As any old friend of mine will affirm, I don't remember things well. I mean, I remember things more in an "ish" phase. Nothing concrete, nothing for sure just a nagging something for so-and-so needs to be done in a week-ish. And it is only getting worse with age.
So as it is with all of the libraries I have ever belonged to I have fines racked up every month, it is usually only a few dollars but it is SO annoying!! And now I have two more cards because T & Z have cards, needless to say, I am sucking at remembering the damn due dates. How can I teach them to be responsible for their things, if I can't even do it?! (I don't actually want a response on this :/).
Visiting Friends
I am so homesick! For friends, family and really anyone that sounds like they are from the South Side of Chicago. I can't wait for St. Patty's Day to read the Tribune online and NBC5 News online and happen upon some eyewitness account of the annual parade. I hope they are drunk, happy and eating a Brat.
We are getting our first visitors of the year; I can't wait! I am almost giddy with the prospects of deep cleaning for a friend who hasn't seen the house yet and my mom who will be spending a week with us. It is always fun to clean, touch up paint and plan a stay-cation. :)
We are really hoping to come to Chicago but we will have to see how the year goes.
Baptism
We had to pleasure to attend two baptisms two weeks ago. These two girls are beautiful and special to us (our dear friend, A, and our cousin, L). It was just wonderful to experience this is their families and our kids.
Z is turning eight this year and will have the chance to choose to be baptized, so this was a "dry run" for us. She has a fear of water and since it is an immersion type of baptism it is kind of a big thing for her. We just keep reassuring her and talking through the days we had with A and L and it seems to make it better for her. I'll keep you posted. :)
T's surgery and recovery
T had a growth on his leg that was supposed to be superficial, well it wasn’t; it went just near the bone but not all the way. It was supposed to be a large pea size then during surgery the margins became a half dollar. AWESOME! After 3 rounds of antibiotics and a vat of Vaseline, gauze and tape...we are finally on the mend. What a joke! I am glad we had it removed- it was becoming aggressive. However, it wasn't cancer.
Enough for now. I hope to pay more attention to this blog now that I have "all" the time in the world to dedicate to it. ;)
Loves and Hugs!!
